I can find no info for this headstamp, FHP 1940 , it is a rifle cartridge.

The head was FNP not FHP.

Sounds like a military headstamp. Pix would help, or dimensions of base, rimmed or
rimless, LOA, neck ID, etc.

Pic's would be great! Any chance it's FNB, a little wear goes a long way and I know my peepers have a few miles on them. ;-)

I do not have the case, a friend of mine called and asked for some info. I could not find anything on that headstamp. He found 62 rounds of this rifle ammo in an old foot locker of his grandfathers that has passed. Soon as I get my hands on 1 of them I will update.

I believe that I have 8mm Mauser ammunition made in Spain in 1940. The head was FNP not FHP.
