Just got back from a local metal recycler--empty-handed. Found two foundry-cast pigs (17 lb) of what I suspected was linotype--clinked rather than thunked, wouldn't scratch, wasn't oxidized like lead. Before I could put a ball bearing to work for a crude hardness comparison, the manager asked what I planned to do with all that zinc. Almost a big "oops."
