Did some shooting with the Flat Top .44 Special today. I started at 25 yds. but for some reason I seem to get groups as good at 50 as I do at 25. So after a 3" or so group at 25, I moved the target stand to 50. The bullets NOE 429421 ACWW, .430" weighing right at 260 grs. Used 6.5 grs. of Unique. Looks like the oversized cylinder throats might not be a problem after all!

My 3 year old grand-daughter, who stood patiently and quietly by while I shot the groups, had fun too!

Nice shooting...did you get any lead fouling?

There's a little in the first inch or so of the barrel. Evidently it didn't affect accuracy too much as the 100 yd. group was the last one I fired. Even at that, the wind was pretty gusty and probably lead to some additional lateral dispersion of the 100 yd. group.

Your daughter is a real doll, and she is holding a very nice Ruger. I saw one just like that the other day[the Ruger] in a gun shop and had to really talk very hard to myself to keep from buying it.

Looks like that round steel plate next to you little girl needs to be replaced before to much longer.........Terry

Well as I read the post I was giving it a 99.999 % rating
But then I got to the little girl and had to boost it to 200%
It's things like little kids that make it all worth while.
Nice pistol, great shooting.
I need to find me a piece of steel for a gong.

Thank you! And yes, I'm realizing good tough gongs are the way to go. The second pic is a chunk of metal that is used between railroad track and the cross-ties. It is an absolutely perfect 50 yd target as the Blackhawks sights cover it perfectly at that distance. Shoot a group, shoot a little black paint, and you're ready to go again!

Yep, that piece of 3/4" plate has been hammered relentlessly over the years!

She is such a doll, I get tears from being so old I miss it.
Good shooting. I have often posted that throats are not the problem unless too small.

Nice shooting!..and good job on ballancing alloy/pressure for throat fit.
Your "problem" seems minor to what I will be dealing with when warm weather returns...Colt 1901 army .38 (long-colt) Cyl. has no throat..bored straight thru .380" dia. Bore dia. .364 dia. Rapine hollow-base cast very soft is .360" as cast..base band ends up .359 after seating in case. Might have to go to a heeled bullet..Oh the fun never ends!
