I am going to be reloading 9mm AR and 9mm pistol. I have about 4 or 5 9mm molds, but have never jacked with the 9mm. I am starting with the Ranch Dog 135 tumble lube boolit. I am hoping to get something that shoots well in both platforms.

I doubt that the carbine will get a lot more velocity, but doers anyone have any recommendations on which powder to start with? I have a lot of powders.

Thanks,

The most "accurate" powder I used was Hodgdon Longshot with 9mm cast at generally close to max loadings.

FME a med fast to a med burning speed powder such as Power Pistol, WSF. HS6 in that order has allways given me the absulate best accuracy in various 9mms & 38 supers, also i size my bullets @.357 dia even if the barrel slugs @.355 for best accuracy . also use a TC nose profile with a longer bearing surface than a RN profile, for usually better accuracy.
or a bullet in the 130 to 150gr range.
Use the same powder in pistol or rifle. you cant really hot rod the 9mm with slow pistol powders to gain much higher velocties as the case capacity is to small.
If your looking to improve accuracy use the same brand of brass for that load or batch, there are alot of varaibles in 9mm brass from different manufractures of brass from all over the world .

The AR is designed to function with standard 9mm loads using standard pistol powders. I would use Unique powder myself with that weight bullet. Use starting loads as from loading manuals and work up the load in the AR staying within pistol data. When the right load is found for the AR it will probably also shoot well in the handgun.

Interesting answers and thank you for them.. The Ranch Dog TL Boolit hand cycles through the magazine and gun. I started with Power Pistol and the plan was to also try Unique next. The gun itself is a blast to shoot. It's a flat top with a red dot.

I have a Ruger PC-9 with a 16" tube and my load in my P-95 is 4.3 grn of HP-38 and a CCI small pistol primer. Out of the P-95 it's running at 1000fps and out of the PC-9 its running 1300fps fun litle 100 yd plinker. This works for me don't know about you.

I was given a pet load designed for the Hi-Point 995 carbine: 124gr or 125gr (used both, can't see any difference) cast over 6 grains Blue Dot. (Also works well with 115gr plated or jacketed and the same powder charge.)

Had my new 995TS out for the first time last weekend. Shot 400 rds of what I had loaded for pistols which included Lyman 358242 & 356402 and Lee 356-125-2R & 356-120-TC all over Blue Dot 6.0. Function and accuracy were great with zero leading. All sized .358 with White Lable 2500+ lube.
