Looks like our "environmentally friendly" service round but they have all steel core (2pcs) weigh 62 grains and are 25mm long

Yes and if you brake it apart you will end up with 2 pcs of core one thats just slightly taperd and one thats makes the tip.

Looks like a 62 GR long range tracer with the red tip cleaned off from polishing to me.

how was wondering about a tracer also .there's no compound in the base of a bullet but there is the recessed area look like it could have been for a compound .

That's exactly what it is...M856 tracer. I get them by the thousand and they are dang fun...especailly when doing the 'bumpfire nationals' in the back yard.
Sometimes tracer projo's are available that are holow backed because they were never loaded with a trace pellet. These are about worthless if hollow as the time & effort to manufacer tracer comp pellets is time & money intensive. The 'loaded' M856 tracer projo's will have a copper cap covering the pellet.

Like that. Load it up and save it for a raiby day or night and you'll be hooked !. You need at minimum 100 yards to see it properly. Longer distances and it gets better !.
