A stupid question about annealed checks. I shot some loads with them in my 45-70 revolver today. My standard load of 31 gr's of 4759 shot 4 in 7/8" at 50 yd's with one flier out a little and increasing loads just opened groups. The thing I can't figure is that all groups are 3-1/2" lower then hard checks. This usually means a higher velocity. I didn't use the chrono so I don't know.
Anyone else notice a change in the POI with soft checks?

Looks like a TZI to me.

I don't shoot checks on handgun stuff, but do you suppose the annealed check is simply sealing better and yeilding the velocity increase to lower the POI?

All my handgun boolits are plain base, but it might be it might be handy to know should that change.

SS, hard to say because my boolits are just over throat size. I guess I have to make more and chrono them. Need more alloy mixed up too, I am out of it.
Kind of screwy because all loads grouped exactly like they do with a hard check, just hit different. If velocity had increased much my go to charge should have shot a larger group and I would need a lighter load.
