I'm looking to find a load to shoot out of a tc 45-70 with a 20" barrel, I'll be shooting a 500gr cast and I'm wanting to keep it sub sonic so I can eventually shot it through a suppressor.

Try 12-13 gr of Trailboss - you do have a chronograph right?

Heck, I used to use about 2.0gr. Bullseye and didn't need a suppressor. The Handi rifle would still bury that 500gr. boolit all the way into an oak log! Pretty rough on feral dogs too.

Sure, works great. Just don't use too much of it!

The 2 grains of bullseye sounds interesting how loud was it?

Quieter than my pellet gun. Use pure lead though, and make sure it's big enough to seal the bore.

Has anyone tried reloader 17 its for short mags and the only reason I wonder is I have a pound that I got for free due to part of it getting spilt

I think I was using around 4 grains of 700X
