Hey guys I need some help finding a Lipseys 45 colt convertible. I have looked everywhere I can think of and no luck. I am not concerned with finish, Blued/stainless is alright by me. Anyone know where one is?? Thanks

Gunbroker.com always has some going. I've gotten several guns through them and it's always gone well.

Thanks I was looking for a Lipseys convertible, I had heard that it was built on the 357 flattop frame. Giving it a better feel a little lighter better packing pistol. They are around 200$ more that a standard Ruger black-hawk. Anyone have any hands on with both pistols? I'd like to hear a good side by side of the two.

Well lead4me, I have one of the Flat Tops. It's less than foot from me as I type. I also have an 80s-vintage BH in .45Colt/.45 ACP. The Flat Top is a bit easier to pack since it closely mimics the size and feel of a Colt SAA. I have not done a side-by-side shooting comparison, but the Flat Top seems to keep my 265-grain boolits within 2 to 2 1/2 inches at 25 yards. It might do better if I still had good eyes. I'd prolly pack it more often except I usually have a couple of .44 Specials with me at any given moment.

Were it me, I'd go ahead and hold out for a Flat Top. In the long run you'll like it better, and if you ever find yourself needing to part with it, it will retain more value than a standard BH. Good Luck!

Go to Ruger forum.com. Look in the classifieds. Mike 454 has one for sale. I believe it is new. Good luck. I have one, a 5 1/2in it is not for sale........

I agree except if he was planning on heavy loads with this for hunting or general trying out then a full size BH is what he wants as the Flat Top would not stand up to it, I think
