What do you guys think of Starline Brass? I'm looking at the 45-70 stuff, I don't care for any plated brass. Case life is an important factor.

I like it
I have been using 500 for a while , that I bought on a auction site for $50

I load and shoot them in 50 case groups

I had 1 split in the first firing , of the 200 I have used so far
But the box had 505 in it anyway

I just looked , so far 2 lots have been fired 8 times , 1 lot 4 times ( full power Marlin loads ) and the reamining lot has been fired 12 times

Expect for the Marlin load brass , most of my loads are on the lite side , like starting trap door
Starting a 350 - 400 gr bullet out at 1200 FPS , still knocks the snot out of a gong at 200 yds
When I started with each lot I trim just enough to true up the cases , Last batch they ended up closer to max than min

Other than that , I have only trimmed the Marlin load brass 1 time and all but a few were still shy of max , after the 3 firing and the other lots are still slightly below max .

Case mouths were squarer than any Win or Rem I have used

I buy more of Starline brass than Win and Rem combined ( if stareline makes it )

I LOVE Starline brass. I have loaded stiff loads in 45-70 well over a dozen times. For the record, I also have used their .357 brass to the far end of the hot scale 15 times and still going strong. Did I mention I LOVE this stuff?

I absolutely love their pistol brass and have no experience with the rifle. Gianni

I have 500S&W brass from them. Some of it I have fired over 10 times with a mix of light to max loads...

Have 100pcs of nickel 45/70 brass.

Load 47gr IMR4198 with 350gr FNSP or 30gr of the same with 405gr lead. Have used about 9 times each and no issues, trim once (after initial which I don't count). I load to about 38-43K cup in my Guide Gun.

Starline is top notch in any cartridge. There is Starline, then everyone else.

I use Starline in my 45-2.4. Started out with 100 pcs over a year ago, still shooting 100 pcs.

When I began shooting .45-70's I used Win. brass. Then when my wife started shooting them I thought to keep them separate by using a different brand. I got Starline 'cuz I'd heard they were good. We are shooting low loads so they both last forever. I did notice though that the Winchesters are more consistent in weight and have, on average, about 2.7 gr. more capacity. Both brands are giving excellent service.

One of my shooting partners and I formed a bunch of .40-65s from Starline. It's darn good brass but a bit thicker than other brands which made our forming operations a bit harder.

Since it didn't form well, it went into his .45/70 pile and has been darn good brass. Over the years, I've shot loads of .44 Mag and .45 Colt Starline. Never a problem.

My latest use is their .32-20 which is also thicket and much better to load than the RP and WW brass.

Good stuff!/beagle

I have it in several BPCR calibers. It is good consistent brass..... BUT.... I have found it to be hard and works better with an annealing and it does have thicker case walls than most. Slightly reduces capacity. In all, I do like it.

I load and shoot Starline brass in mostly 45-70 and 45-90. I annealed the brass as I know it is a bit harder than other brands. No problems and for the price, ya can't beat it. Emery

I have used Starline for my 45-70 Marlin with zero problems.

All my warm 45-70 loads use Starline - I also have new Rem brass but Iīll only buy Starline for my 45-70 from now on, whenever the time comes. Lasts long, works good. I havenīt annealed any.

I have loaded about 4000 rounds for that Marlin with mixed brass, my "mucho used" brass pile ( for plinkers and subsonic ) is 90 % Starline because all the others get dumped earlier. I donīt count reload times anymore , I inspect the brass. New brass for hunting loads, otherwise the brass keeps circulating.

Good stuff.

Thumbs up +1 on the Starline 45-70. My initial 100-round purchase has just been reloaded for the 5th time without losing a single case. Would've been reloaded more times but I was sufficiently impressed with the quality of the first lot that I immediately ordered another 200 rounds.
