Neighbour has an old lever action 32-40, 26" Round Barrel Full length tube figures it was built around 1900. The Serial starts out 160XXX where would a person find a website to date this off of the serial number?
Thanks Ken.:coffee:

Brophy's book, Marlin Firearms, puts it at about 1897-8. He claims his method of analyzing factory records to be good for an accuracy of one year, and shows the last serial number of 1897 to be about 161,200.

HTH, Mark

Back in 2004 I bought a model 39A from a friend. Serial # E8XXX. I was unable to find information so I call Marlin. They told me gun was manufacture in 1948. They had a fire in early 50's and could not be sure of the month. But they made about 900 to 1000 per month. So they thought it was made in Aug. or Sept. Give them a call.
