I have the LR Pedersoli also. Shoots very well @ 200yds with 70gr Schuetzen,. 030 veg fiber wad, and 480 Saeco gg. Mine are sized to .459 with homemade lube. Never tried pp, but on my list of things to do.

Welcome to the CastBoolits.
There are a lot of folks here that do the paper patch loading and shooting. Some of them do quite well in the BPCR shoots. I am sure that they will be here before too long, to help you out. I have not done that much paper patching with my 45-70, but want to get deeper into it later on. One thing though, "You are going to need more powder"

I plann on working up in 3 grn icrements to bracket the "sweet spot" with this load. Also have lyman 457125 that is droping 515 grn bullets and a 535 grn postell mold here that are grease grooves to work with. While I shot High Power for many years this is all "new" to me so Im going slow. Im buting bullets for paper patching from Buffalo arms right now. Im planning on an adjustable mould in the future a paper patched with postell style nose to wieght from 450-575 grns.

I shoot the Lyman 457125 boolit also. I weigh 70 grains of Goex 2F and drop it in the case with a short tube. I use a .050 card wad over the powder and compress with a compression die to seat the boolit into the lands. This load shoots great in my Uberti Highwall.

I have been using 60 grains of goex 2f with 405 grain lyman. I use a card wad over the powder, a grease cookie and a wool wad underneath the bullet.

Does the wool wad keep the bullet base warm and fuzzy?

Im using a lube cookie of emmerts improved I made 50% beeswax 40% crisco shortening 5% canola oil and 5% lanolin. Seems to be doing the job in my 45-70's 34" barrel. Will start with it and 3/16" cookies in the 45-90 when it gets here.

Welcome! Nothing useful to add, lots of good reading around here and plenty of BPCR shooters that can answer most any question that comes up.

Shot the 500 grn paper patched bullets 63 grn 2 f powder charge with 3/16 emmerts grease cookie. blow tubed 2 breaths every shot. cleaned every 10 went last 20 just blow tubing. Bullets were .442 dia patched with 9 LB onion paper for dia of .448-.449. Last six shots were just under moa at 100 yds. will keep everything the same and up charge to 65 grns sunday weather permiting. Patches were coming of at the muzzlefirst wrap intact andouter wrap was confetti. found a few card wadsthat appeared to noot show any damage other than being pushed into the cupped base of the bullet.Fouling was staying soft loading was easy even after 40 rds. See to be on the right track with what Im doing so far pointers or suggestions willingly accepted here
