After using Lee 10 & 20# pots forever (well, I did have to wait for Lee to start making them), this week I bought an RCBS Pro-Melt based on all the comments I have seen on this forum. Definately a big setp upward. :) I still have and will use the Lee 20# pots I have for different alloys until I get tired of the dripping again.

In the mid 2000's I did a survey of my customers who cast as to which pot was better, the Lyman or RCBS. The latter was the hands down winner of the ones I spoke to. Main complaint with the Lyman was spout freeze.

I bought a pro-melt in 1978 and never looked back. It has delivered good service without ever having any kind of problem. It cost a lot less then, but then again what hasn't gone up in price. I use it for my 4 cavs and use a Saeco M24 for one and two cavs. For smelting I have a Saeco Model T-34 the modern version of which is the Waage. There is no substitute for good quality. LLS

Don't buy cheap tools, is a mantra I live by.

The ProMelt is good kit.

Ive got two of them and really like them. there a huge step above a lee pot and a small step above a lyman in my opinion. Dont take that wrong though as the lymans i had were pretty good pots too.

After my used Saeco 10lb pot died after many years of use , i was lucky enough to use a friends RCBS 22 lb pot & another friends Lyman 20 lb pot before i purchased a new one , i chose the RCBS pot and it has served me well over the past 20 sum years and many 100,000 of bullets.

I have a pair of RCBS Pro-Melts and have been more than happy with them. I bought one new (when they wholesaled for about $100) and the other was bought from an estate (like new) full of bullet metal for $60.00. If my original one failed, I didn't want to be without one while it was being repaired. When the second was offered to me I jumped on it.

Good gear, indeed!!

Use the Lee as a preheat pot, let it drip into the Pro-Melt

IMHO the RCBS Pro Melt is a great piece of equipment..After years of low-cost pots, I finally bought a Pro Melt last year; my only regret is that I didn't buy it years ago. At today's price for boolits (if you can find any), good equipment will pay for itself in no time flat.

I bought mine a long time ago for around $85.00 and thought it was a heck of a buy then. It has never failed me in all of the years I have used it, it's still running strong! Some where between thirty or more years ago. You can't beat them for quality! The toolman.

This might be a Dumb Question but if an RCBS Pro Melt Breaks will RCBS Fix it?

I have had mine for about 8 years of which I have no idea how old it is since I purchased it used and it looked it lol. But still works great.

Yes, RCBS services the Pro-Melt and it may be fixed under warranty...
