Help me ID this mold

It's an aluminum mold, looks like it's painted black.
The diameter at the opening under the sprue plate is exactly .5"
It says 256 on the side and there are no other markings on it

Looks like a .50 caliber T/C Maxi Ball mould to me.

It looks like a tc maxi ball mold I used back in the 70's for my hawkens,it was a bas!!!!
To load didn't shoot it much.

mine say's lyman on the side.
gave 25 bucks for it because i wanted the handles attatched to it.
i might make some and try them in my 50 cal someday.

Lyman used to make the molds for TC. Should be around 370 grains. TC also used to make a goofy lubricator for them that the Wonder Lube screwed into. It never really worked that well unless you slightly heated the tube of lube first.

PD GRaham, That mold is anodized aluminum and should cast beautifully with pure lead. As to who actually produced molds for T/C, I can document at least 3 manufacturers: Lyman, Green Mountain (bought one at Dixon's last summer), and Ohaus (have a NIB meehanite .440" RB mold marked Ohaus & T/C). Internet rumor suggests Shiloh may also have been a supplier.
