Iwant to see what you guys would recommend for all around powder use.223,243,308,30-06, these are most of what I would load. Thanks for the info in advance. Military powder would be good for me.

Varget for those you listed.

Any single base equivalent to 4895 in speed would work best, making Varget an excellent choice for a large quantity purchase. ... felix

i have heard that IMR 7828 SSC "super short cut" is also an exelent all around powder.

however, i do have varget, i use it for both .308, and 35 remington.
i hope to use it for other rifle calibers as i start reloading for more.

Hodgdon BENCHMARK will work all those. but it gives high speeds with low pressure. so may not be the best for cast boolits.

I've used Varget in 22-250, .243, .280, and 30-06. It had worked good in all, There may be better choices in the bigger rifle at least but it does work pretty good. Why limit to just one? Why not go with 2, one for the small calibers , one for the bigger. In the end ,the price is the same.

Isn't there a military 4895 bulk powder? It would work also.

AM, that SSC powder you mentioned is WAY off base for the calibers mentioned. ... felix

VV N140 would work with all those.

Surplus 4895. May not be the best in any, but will work effectively in all you mentioned.

IMR4895
H4895
Surplus 4895 (I haven't seen this available for a while. Fortunately, I've still got a jug or two left.)

Varget's in the same burn rate area and is popular with many match shooters.

You might look at Reloder 12 and 15. They seem to be in the H4895 to Varget range. I've been using RL-15 for heavier (77-grain) bullets in .223. Naturally, everyone's out of it.

As others have mentioned, none are perfect for all your listed cartridges, but all will work.

I use unique, 2400, 3031 and reloader 7 for most all of my cast needs.

Varget or IMR 4064 will work, but there's really no such thing as an all around powder. Different calibers and case combinations work better with different powders. You are not helping yourself by trying to cover them all with one powder.

It's more of a magnum powder, good for 300 Weatherby Mag, 300 Win. Mag ect...
I used the standard (non short cut) in my .270 WSM with great results.

IMR 4895 is the first thing to come to mind perhaps because it's been around longer . Varget is one I've used a little of and it works Okay in what I've used it for .

I order Varget 32# at a time, and use it in all the calibers you listed plus 7.62X54R, Jap 7.7 X 58 and Jap 6.5 x 50
I get excellent results from it, and excellent value purchased in bulk.
