Going to Dillon tomorrow to have my SDB refurbished, since I'm in Arizona. PM me if any members in the area want to meet there. I want to see the BFR press and wonder if they will release conversions for other cartridges than 50 BMG?

Take care

I understand that there customer service is second to none. Too far to come but I bet you get a good result from your visit.

Well their store had a limited supply of brass and bullets. The press I took in was very old. I swear every technician looked at it and appreciated it. I did look at the BFR and it appears to be a cross between the Rl-300 and 550. Massive steel and iron press. They have no plans in making conversions for other cartridges than 50 BMG right now and did see the new primer pocket swagger/primer bench tool.

I did see a press in the historical case that appeared to look like a Square Deal but the frame was different. Does anyone remember a junior? It looked like a downsized 550 with SD top. Fascinating.

Take care,

Yep... seen 'em and used 'em. They made (at least) 3 different versions of the 450 Junior. I think they called them 450 Jr. A, 450 Jr. B, and 450 Jr. C. They used the Square Deal type propritary dies and shellplates. However, one of the models used a standard type decap/sizing die, but still used the Square Deal type dies in the other positions. I actually have a toolhead and few other parts for one.

Thanks Alvarez!

I also seen a posting for an 850 with case feeder in the shop. That was around the late 70s but I could be wrong. Interesting stuff on the history of the company.

Call yesterday and press is done. Not bad. About two weeks for refurbish.

Take care
