I have found cast bullet loads for 9mm in the reloader reference using Lyman 358311, which is a 158g bullet. I have a 358-158-RF and a 358477 SWC. These bullet lengths are .626 and 670 respectively. The 358311 is probably closer in length to the 358477. So case capacity will be greater with the Lee bullet. Reloader Reference has loadin of reddot 3.6g and unique 4.5. These look a little high. Has anyone any experience with heavy bullets in a 9mm?

Clays has become my go to powder for the 9mm. Burns clean and no leading. My girlfriend loves to shoot her Taurus PT92, but is a bit recoil sensitive and most of the factory loadings out there are a bit much for to enjoy shooting. I started loading 158 grain boolits over 2.5 grains of Clays and it has turned out to be an easy to shoot, accurate, clean and reliable load. Boolits are seated to allow feeding in mags and to chamber freely. That load gives plenty of power, but could probably be increased a bit.

Not yet, but I have a semi auto Sten coming and am looking to try it for hunting small game and small hogs. Will watch with interest.

I just came across published reloading data lyman 44th ed. has 158g cast data. I will try unique since I have more experience with that than other powders. listed loads are 3.5g starting 4.5 max. I made up some dummy loads and they fed ok if sized to .357. They would not close if unsized.

Thanks! I thought I just posted to a thread just like this but I was questioning myself. Always a good thing to search because if you can think of it to ask it probably already has been asked.
