I just received this mold yesterday. It is a thing of beauty. I also bought the handles from MiHec. It is a round flat nose bullet with a wide lube groove not hollow pointed.

I cast with straight wheel weight lead and was wondering what is a good starting temperature? I use an RCBS Pro-Melt with a PID unit to control the temp so I can increase or decrease temp incrementally if needed.

This is my first 6 cavity mold, so just want to get a starting point. My 4 cavity brass molds I have seem to like 700 - 710 degrees. I was thinking to start there, but if any of you have this mold and can give input, I would appreciate it.

I use the Lee 6cav molds and run right around 700 with no issues. Just make sure you preheat thoroughly for consistency.

Yes. I have 2 other MiHec brass molds that are 4 and 2 cavities respectively and both of them need preheating also. I have a hot plate that runs close to max and I turn it on and set the mold on it when I turn on my pot to heat it up. By the time the pot is ready, the mold is more than ready. Thanks for the reply and confirmation that 700 degrees is a good starting point.

Pre heat and use the sprue lube, 700-720 works well with my Magma pot, the RCBS sometimes liked it a bit hotter.

Well, I tried it with 705 degrees. I had fill out issues and wrinkles with about 40% of them. I will try 715 degrees on my next casting session. I weighed one un-lubed and then weighed it lubed. Un-lubed was 139.4 grains and lubed was 140.1 grains. I will post pictures later.
