I got the hammer mold the other day and cast some hammers. When I went to the tire store for WW I paid $25 for a bucket and gave the owner a new lead hammer. Next thing I knew he gave me 5 buckets of WW.:-D :-D :-D Now I have to find the sight that was around here to buy my own hammer mold so I can alwasy give them a new hammer.

Hammer mould= Lee mould that is sticky[smilie=1:

Actually, it's a mould that is used to cast lead hammer heads.

armoredman, in the form discussed here, it's a hinged cast iron mould that you close around a handle, commonly a half-inch pipe nipple, and pour molten lead into to make a lead-head hammer. Perfect dead-blow properties, for seating work in mill vises and such. When it gets all banged up, melt off the head and recast.

No one here thought of the lead hammer... They are centuries old.

Can anybody make me or point me toward a mold for Lead hammers? I have a guy who barely knows me who regularly gives me wheelweights. I'd love to cast him one of these periodically.

This is a Great Idea! I'm interested as well. For my own use and trading for WWs.

One source for hammer moulds is McMaster-Carr. I'm sure there are others...Ray

Yes, but the idea as a lead hammer gift to bribe is brilliant. I once got a 2 lb hammer for being in a wedding, with my name stamped on it and i still have it..

I asked my tire shop if they needed a lead hammer and the manager said they already had 2 and they last forever as almost no one uses the knockoff wheels anymore. Way back when I drove an Armored Truck I made a bunch of bullet key chains and gave them to my nicer customers, maybe 40 of them(out of 120). I gave one to the owner of the wrecking yard that we picked up money from. A few months later I needed a bunch of cars parts for an old Volvo we had. I must have had 300 bucks worth of car parts. The owner saw me and told the cashier "everything he has is trim". Trim goes for a buck. I got out of there with change left from my 20.00. Doesn't hurt to be nice to people, you never know when it might pay off.
