I went on vaction for two weeks and stopped by some shops while on the road. Saw a lyman 4 cav mold for 452389 mold for $50 and wondered if I should pick it up on my way back? It looks very clean no handles and I dunno if I could talk the guy down on it or not. Its that odd looking bullet that looks like a cross breed between round ball and wadcutter. a wadcutter with half the ball stuck on top I think its a 185 or 200gr bullet but I'm not sure? I have 2 wheel guns and a auto loader to feed and am always looking to experiment. Should I pick it up or pass? as always I try to talk the guy down before I purchase it anyways:Fire:

I bought one of the 4 cavity ones as new old stock a month or so ago, I paid 50$. I already had the 2 cavity version, but thought the price was good, so I picked it up. I haven't tried any for accuracy yet. I too think it's kind of an odd design.

Any 4 banger in good shape is worth that price. If you pass it up you'll regret it. If you don't want it, pick it up for me and I'll take it.

I picked it up and talked them down on the price 20% as well :Fire: I'm still out of town so it will be a while till I get to throw some with it.

I had one of those in 4 cavity for many years and for me was an excellent 25 yd bullet in my .45 wad gun. Mine cast about 187 grs out of WW metal and 25 yd 10 shot groups averaged an inch out of the Ransom rest. At 50 yds they opened to about 3.5-4" but I did not do much to try and improve that as I used the Lyman 452460 for 50 yd work. I sold mine off after I aquired a Saeco 185 swc that did well at both 25 and 50 yds. It will certainly not cost you any points at the 25 yd line. It may give feed problems in some guns but I never had any trouble with it. It's well worth what you paid.
