I have come to the conclusion the Lee Press I'm trying to swag on is to light duty. I have replace the handle with a longer one and it just won't fill the point form die to the end. I cannot get the leverage on it. Has anyone else had the same success with light presses? Or am I missing something?:(

Some have modified the linkage for more leverage.

Two presses that will really do the work are
1 Redding big boss and 2 the rockchucker RCBS

You didn't say what caliber you are trying to make or what kind of lead you are using. Do you have the point die too far into the press?

The hardest operation for your press is derimming the brass. Point forming should be a cake walk. If it isn't forming your brass might not be properly annealed.

How hard is the lead your using as a core? Softer is better.

I'm using pure lead for cores. I may need to look at my annealing, I thought it was ok. 22lr brass is what I'm doing. I swaged just a lead core to see how the die looked. It swagged all the way perfect. If the boolits would come out as such I'd be happy. 62420

What Lee press are you using. I know they have made quite a few in the past and some do not have as much leverage as the newer Lee Classic press.

Back in the late 80's I used to make bullets like those in the picture,
put two chandler grooves with a C/H tool and dip lube them for shooting
squirrels in my .222 rem model 7 at about 950-1000 fps did a good job on them.

Those were just lead cores to see if the die was shaped ok. I did go to a longer core in the jakit and it did improve some. Also I made an ejector so I don't have to beat the boolit out causing the hollow point. I just bought a C H Magnum H press on Ebay that will give me a better press for this. My press is the lighter Lee aluminum cast D press. Not heavy duty by no means. 62427
