Anyone know of a site that would help me ID the year of my Johnson 25hp outboard by model number? I used to have a site bookmarked 2 computers ago.

Tpr Brett does that outboard have the old double line fuel tank--one line fuel the other air and you have to pump up the tank?

Try this one -

http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/johnson/

I have a Seloc repair manual for Johnson/Evinrude outboards, 1956-70, 1 1/2 - 40 HP, 1 and 2 cylinder, 2-stroke models. If there is any info in it that I can pass on to you, I would be more than happy to!!:-D

Model # 25B75R I think, might be 25R75B. It's 10 miles away on the lake. Single fuel line, white top cover with red and black (I think) stripes, avocado green lower unit. Quite a step up from my 1958 18 HP model. Scoot my 16 foot Polar Craft john boat along about 20-25 mph. Started on the 3rd pull after not being run at least 2 years. Doesn't idle down real good. Any tricks to that? My old motor idled better if O released all pressure from the tank. Our old 35 Johnson would idle all day at trolling speed pushing a 15' Lyman through the chop on the St Lawrence. Just gurgled along. I played with the jet but it didn't seem to make much difference. Could be varnish in the passages. Have to apply some Sea Foam and Berrymans.

Thanks for any help.
