Hey all.
This last dove season I used up two cases of RIO high base 12 gauge shells and would like to reload them. Unfortunately, they dont seem to want to hold a Winchester primer for anything. I mean, I can pull them out with my fingernail. Anyone know what primers I could use for these hulls? If RIO does sell primers of the correct size, am I putting myself at risk squeezing them into Federal or Winchester primer pockets?
Any and all safety and advice / knowledge is appreciated.

They are a different size. I believe Cheddite and Fiocchi are also.

I admit it I am fruuuugal.......I keep a sleeve of Fiocchi primers around for hulls that will be used "that one last time" due to enlarged pockets, them primers are substantially larger and allow one more use from well used hulls. I also use pretty blue, brand new fiocchi hulls for my 20ga slug loads and the win/rem/feds just do not work.

BPI sells a tool to swage the primer pockets back to (or to) "standard" size:

The best fit is the Rio Primer.
If you use a Rio Primer in a Fed or WW hull
it stretchs the primer pocket.

Thank you guys. This was something I had never seen before and just wasn't sure. I think I will order a couple thousand to keep on hand.

The winchester primer is smaller than the rio primer. You have to use the rio primers, they are several thousands bigger than the others. I reload rios 3-4 times before i pitch them.If you reload them hot you may only get 1 or 2 reloads out of them.
