I'm going to make up a batch of alloy and for the
initial mix I was thinking about using a bunch of loaded up
tumbling media that is going to be replaced.
Corn cob and walnut - treated and untreated that's used up.
Anyone know if this would work or any issue's?

The woody media should work as flux. All the dirt attached to the media is just more junk that will need to come out of the pot.
I would not do it, because the my goal is to clean the lead and adding dirt just does not appeal to my way of thinking, and I have no lack of clean sawdust/planer shavings.
Lot's of way to do this stuff and getting one more use out of your media truly is a noble cause.

Saw dust for your initial flux then stir with a wood stick. Dowels work great. 5/8" or 7/8" dia. Burning/charring wood will aide the flux. Be sure to stir the bottom and scrape the sides. Old media goes in the trash.
