Can it be made from other brass? New brass from Midway is about $45/ hundred. Would brass made from .308 Win work in a Marlin lever gun? May have to change the extractor to get it to work with a rimless casing, but they work just fine with 35 Rem. Just curious as I'm dickerin on a 356 Marlin.

Just lube .307 Win. brass & run it into a .356 sizer die.

Don't take this as gospel; but I think I read some place that .356 Winchester brass can be formed from .444 Marlin brass.

Anybody know for sure?

You are correct,a fellow from Shooters Forum or is it Leverguns by the name of William Iorg I'm sure it was him he gave me all the instructions on how to do it,but I cannot access it for my remote hardrive has gone to be repaired.
But it's basically about putting the 444 case in a 307/356 Win trim die and trimming it and then lubing the case up and putting it through a form die for the 356 or 307 and then I think you have to trim it again(I'm not sure on that part).
I think,if memory is ok that you might have to alter something on the bolt a bit,I did not do it for I found a good supply of .307 and .356 cases and bought up big with them.
I'm sure it was on Leverguns.com
Cheers
