A couple of rifles , one an 03 the other an A3 I had new stocks made and reparkerized the metal . The A3 has a good barrel and I had intended to just shoot ball ammo in it for a while untill I got to using the 03 and learned more about it .
The 03 came with a barrel that was trash so I found an 11-42 Springfield barrel and had it installed . I cleaned the dickens out of it while I'm breaking it in shooting four or five hundred rounds through it . All the fouling was cleaned out before trying lead and it is still rough enough to leave some lead in the bore . :( So I think what I'll do is clean out the A3 real well and try it with cast , leaving the 03 to shoot surplus ball untill it smooths out some .
It oughta work , I have a barrel on another rifle that is worn out to about .310" and it doesn't lead as long as bullets are the right size .
