Been trying out handloads in my .357 mag. marlin CB and getting inch and a half groups at 50 yards with max loads using IMR 4227 and H-110 with my mtn mold 185GC lbt type boollits. The IMR loads are going 1570 fps and the H-110 are around 1720 fps.Been sizing at .359 and no leading. Is this about right for these type of rifles or should I keep looking for a better load. This is my first levergun and it is a lot of fun playing with it.Tried some 180 plain base boollits using unique at around 1380 fps and they leaded slightly and they weren't as accurate.Thinking about trying a slower load with that boollit for use as a practice load. Both boollits cycle very well after a little tuning and polishing. Am wondering what I ought to try out next for boollits in this weight range. Was told these type of boolitts work best in 357 mag for hunting.Seems like the 185GC will work out good to 100 to 150 yards.

I use 15gr of lilgun with 180 gr or 8 gr of bluedot for plinking practice with the 180's.

stretch your shooting to 100yds and try for an inch group on a regular basis.... :)

i use the GB lee wfn 180 gr gc without the gas ck ,with 4.5 to 5.0 of tight group for a little over 1000 fps for a acurrate plinker, and 12.0 gr 820 @1400 fps and 15.5 of lil gun for 1700 + fps with the gas ck. i also have a saeco #354 a 180 gr gc , that i use the 12.0 and the 15.5 load in and all are acurrate. all loaded in 357 mag cases. bob
