****SORRY THIS IS A DRY RUN***** I'm working on a steady supply of Beeswax. How many pounds can you use/or order. ie..... 1lb,2lb,3lb, or 100lbs or anything between. I'm trying to figure in my order and want ot keep the cost down for my fellow casters....... I just ran into this deal yesterday so it may take a day or two work out the details. The great part of this deal, i can buy as much or little as i want. If this works out you all can have a steady supply of bullet lube and its pure beeswax

i guess it depends on the price.

I've been looking at prices a little and did some figuring this morning (since i woke up at 4:30 am) and at this point i'm thinkin $2 - $3/lb..... Bulk shipping in the USPS ship all you stuff in box for $8.95...Unless there is a better way to ship? 1lb is a lot of wax. I couldn't find any pure beeswax for less than $3-$6/lb Most don't even sell by the lb they sell by the ingot and the $/lb is over the pail by a long shot. You see i render this stuff myself from cleaned bee hive material.. I'm just not sure about the most economical method of shipping yet.

How many Lbs will fit in one of the $8.95 flat rate boxes? Bees are having problems in my neck of the woods and having a lifetime supply is only going to get more expensive over time. If I could find a flat rate box full at a reasonable price I'd be in.

For the weight I would look at something other than the flat rate box. Try to see what 10-15 lbs fit in and what it cost to ship and you would be surprised. Gianni

Well, thats enough to convince me to make the call tomorrow and get the ball rolling on this deal. It will still take me a while to render this time of year untill hard frost hits i'm going and going at work. OH, don't tell your wives or they'll be makin candles out your bullet lube stash, i warned you.

I'd like wise be interested in a box of wax also, depending on price. It runs about $6.00/ lb on ebay for non food grade (green died) Keep me in mind. Thanks mike

I'd be interested in several pounds if you can hit 2 bucks per lb, or so...

Just for reference Glorybee foods has it for 3.95 a lb, raw unfiltered.
Works fine for bullet lube, has a very strong honey like smell. . I am pretty sure 25 lbs would fit in a Flat Rate USPS box. For 2.00 a lb I would go for another 25 lbs.

Seems like I'm with everybody else. Whatever fits logically in a basic box to absolutely minimize shipping costs. I'm in for 10 pounds at the $2+ rate. If it's 15 pounds or, 7 or 8 pounds I'll go with the flow. Sounds like you are doing us all a favor. Thanks,

Thanks for all the responses. This will motivate me to move along quicker. I'll make the call today and pick up raw material this week. Looks like i may have to make my rendering set up more efficient. Theres only one flow chart(open beer drink beer) so things like ordering may go a little choppy at first. I may send one or two batches out for a test run for a quality check practice run. MMMMmmm come to think about it, i haven't had a beer in about 4 days. Whats the best method for taking orders so i don't screw it all up right from the start??????

Check the stickys on honchoing a deal. Ignore anything that relates to problems with Lee! You should learn a lot. I should be in for a box. Remember that you will get an initial surge of orders that will then taper off as the regulars are satisfied. That run will be used up at a varing pace between individuals, so ongoing orders are limited to newbies and a dribble of re-orders as the initial surge is used up by us.

I'm interested in a few pounds too. Dont forget the $4.60 flat rate envelope. It's strong enough for shipping the hammer mold in that is being circulated. Regards, Ringer

I'm trying to keep it $2.50 ish..But like i said time is not on my side till late fall. Also there are insects that like beeswax so i gotta be careful of too much storage this time of year. I designed a bigger rendering set up tonight. I just have to tinker with it so the temp stays under 180 degs or i'll have a fire in the hole.

Well, i needed a 1/2 day of vacation and i took it off this afternoon.. I picked up a 100 lbs of raw material and started rendering.. I tested three different methods and found one that seems to work good ,wish i did that one from the start. Enough tinkering around and i rendered about 30-40 lbs. i figured the best way is to put a tough plasic bag in a USPS shipping box and pour it in.. You can fit more in that way. I need to do more of these with this method before any price quotes. One thing i noticed there is some lighter and darker wax due to the amount of Propolis in the batch.( Propolis is sorta redish colored) The other thing, there is a few small particals in each batch..... If you want it double strained DO IT YOURSELF with cheese cloth.. Heat slowly and keep it below 85C or 180 deg F Flash point of wax is aprox 300 to 350 deg F and its like a greese fire DON'T USE WATER. Heat in a double boiler with water between pots.. Possibly this weekend i'll do a smelting again and weigh it on a good accurate scale( mine is a piece of trash, digital) I may only sell this in a bulk shipping box. Boy does this stuff smell goooooood.

Lee
08-03-2007, 10:48 PM
Yep! Plastic bag in a U(S)PS shipping box would be a good way to go!!!
Post the weight amount and the cost and wait for the PM's to roll in!! Thanks....Lee:wink:

Fill up a box with your plastic bag idea and weight it. I bet it comes out heaver than most might think. I'm guessing in the 40+ lbs range.

randyrat
08-04-2007, 08:53 AM
i'M thinkin closer to 15 lbs. One can figure the aprox weight of beeswax/sq" and figure how many sq. inches in a bulk USPS shipping box. Sorry i don't have the numbers

Dragoon
08-04-2007, 10:58 AM
I looked it up. The box full should be about 30 pounds. The guy on ebay (I know, we hate them) filters it through a diatomaecous earth filter and then through a 25 micron filter. Not sure what that would entail.

felix
08-04-2007, 11:08 AM
Dragoon, a diatomaecous earth filter absorbs junk larger than 2 microns, so a 25 micron filter must be done first, if done at all. ... felix

I looked it up. The box full should be about 30 pounds. The guy on ebay (I know, we hate them) filters it through a diatomaecous earth filter and then through a 25 micron filter. Not sure what that would entail. Yes, but mine has been blessed by the the queen bee. LOL
In time i may filter mine a different way, for now i melt my Queen juice and let it settle for a spell with just right amount of heat. Most partcles are settled out. Then i strain it through cheese cloth or similar cloth. My Beesway is considered once filtered, used for non food grade projects......Next week i'll find some good plasic bags that don't leak. The temp dosen't seem to bother the plasic but you CAN"T HAVE EVEN SO MUCH AS A PIN HOLE IN IT.

randyrat
08-05-2007, 04:38 PM
Ok i found some good plasic bags and i pured right into the bag in the box. I only can get a little over 17 lbs in a USPS bulk box.. So it looks like thats going to be the weight. Price is $2.75 /lb and i'll throw in a little extra for the settlings on the bottom..( ie.charge for 16 and send 17 lbs) My plan is to make a new post and post how many boxes i have for sale at a certain weight, then it will be first come first served-- Paypal, money order, cash, check,i don't care what you send(paypal is easy). I will ship when the money clears the bank.. Shipping will be $8.95 per box. I'll post when i have a certain amount of boxes when i'm out-i'm out. I can't work on this 7 days a week so it will be spread out over time.

Well the first 70-80 lbs was a test run and it went GREAT! I tried to go down this list the best i could... Next i will post a new Thread when i'm ready and i will adhere to the first come first served way of doing business. I can't except PMs out of order ( to be fair). My goal is to provide fellow casters with the best deal/quality i can provide..Weather you use it for bullets, candles, or re sell it, thats up to you. Let me know if your happy or not when you get your order. Next pick up for raw material will be next week. Keep your eyes open. You all are very kind, Thanks,Randy
