So, was interested in a 300AAC option to play with for loads that didn't function in semiauto from the AR and this is the result. 16 inch Begarra barrel with 1 in 8 inch twist, Choate folding stock and a cheap NcStar scope (that worked great on the AR Upper). Turns out this single shot has three evil features, threaded muzzle, pistol grip and folding stock. I can't wait to sight this in......

Where did you find the barrel? Been looking for one.

I ordered in mid December and it was on backorder but I had it by the middle of January...looks like they are on backorder again until later in April

MGM is first rate. No flies there IMHO

I guess I was asking about loads w/ cast bullets because I have a 16.5 Encore SS TC Custom Shop in 300 Whisper. The 130 Lee's I tried were not worth a hoot. It did ok with a 125 NBT, but I would rather shoot cast out this one.

IIRC the TC Custom shop barrels are 1:10 twist. You probably shouldn't go over about 180 grain bullet/boolit weight. If you want to go heavier then 1:8 or 1:7 is a better twist. Try 110 grain J words or comparable boolits.

From what I have read and what TC and Hogdgon have said, the magic number should be around 220. And bullet over that weight is a c-r-a-p shoot. Not a big deal because the heaviest cast bullet I can throw is a 170. (Ps, the two bullet weights I listed above were 130 & 125.)

I am not trying to go subsonic, just asking if anyone had any pet loads. Considering the beautiful barrel pictured is close to mine, it was worth asking to me. I have about 250 cast bullets from my NOE 312-440 that I am starting to play with.

Thanks for the help and I appologize for thread hijacking.

Ps, I can get 2400 fps with a 125gr NBT FWIW...

The 125 NBT is what JD Jones recommends for hunting applications. Dr. Rodgers has used it to take hundreds of deer with. (No, that is not a typo... LOL).
