One of My Favorites is 40-65 WCF

Been using 4198 and 5744 under a Lyman 403169 moulded 248 grain boolit being spit out of a Model 86 Winchester rifle. Anyone have other favorite powders, boolits, loads for this caliber and rifle?

Forum search produced bupkis.

Most of the load info out there is for Shiloh Sharps pushing 400 grain +/- boolits.

Just found this post. I shoot a Pedersoli replica of the Sharps 1874 in buffalo matches at Tuscarawus Rifle Club in Midvale, Ohio. I use IMR 4759, 21.5 grains, behind either a custom mold bullet from Brooks or one from Hoch. Both are around 400 to 425 grains in weight.

I use a 21st century Marlin 1895,Originally a 45-70, Now ,with 40/65 chambered barrel liner..the Rcbs 40-300-sp-csa(312 gr in my alloy) is loaded over 30 gr of Rx7,or 34 Gr.#3031,for around 1500 fps in my rifle...With The Rcbs 40-350-sp-csa (361 gr with my alloy) 32.0 #3031,or 33.0 gr IMR4895 is a high 1400's fps load... Got the loads from Lyman's Cast Bullket H'book, 4th Ed. Good luck... Onceabull :drinks:
