I have been successfully casting 45 boolits for a few weeks now and have moved onto 9mm. I slugged my barrel and found that it is .355". I bought the lee 6 cavity 124gr truncated cone mold and a lee 356 sizer kit. I cast some boolits, loaded them up and shot them. The accuracy was fine and they cycled just fine except I got quite a bit of leading. When I got home I measured the diameter of a few of the boolits and found that they were all .354, I checked with 2 different calipers so I know they were right.is it normal for lee sizer dies to under size a boolit? My 45s I cast and size at 452 and they come out as 452.

Is the under sized boolit causing the leading or could it be the load data? I'm casting with 50/50 ww/pure lead and loading with 4.5gr unique @ 1.110 oal.

Yes it is normal for Lee sizer dies to under size. Every die I have ordered from them has been
.001 under advertised diameter. I just open them up with some sand paper and a wooden dowel.

Yup that's normal for a lee sizer. The sand paper and wooden dowel is the way to go look at it this way you can now have your boolits sized to whatever diameter to pick.

Did you check the size of the boolit before sizing?

I wouldn't say they are always under but they are inconsistent.

Here are mine.

That boolit alloy may be to soft for the 9 especially if the boolits are green.

They could be getting swagged down during seating and crimp.

+2. seat one then pull it and check diameter again.
