Has this happened to anyone else? I opened a new, sealed bag of 50 Winchester 45/70 brass tonight that I just bought at a sports shop. The first case I took out of the bag was a Hornady shell with a live primer in it. The bag was factory sealed. The shell was also brand new. All the rest were unprimed Winchester. Does Honady make Winchester brass or Vice versa?

Betcha Winnie makes Hornady. The other explanation might be the distributor does the packaging and it happened there.

I was lead to believe Starline made Hornady brass.

Prolly so, Ken. Raw brass is prolly in pellet form made to Starline's order according to the Starline version of each cartridge spec by Olin. About 150 miles apart. ... felix

They were factory sealed in the Winchester bag. I had to tear the top off to open them. I looked at them again today when I resized them to 40/65 and found 3 more in the bag for a total of 4. I'm going to e-mail Winchester and see what gives. Bill

What i like about winchester is they can't count 45-70 for squat. Had 53 in 1 bag, 52 in 3 bags.
Rem can only count to 50 and 51 in my limited experience.

i wonder if they package at a different factory? maybe they use the same bagging / packaging company and thats where the mix happened?

Where is the brass plant? I go to Starline with some regularity
as it is next door to Sierra, but have no idea where Olin brass
is located.
