The first muzzle loader I ever bought was in 1978, a CVA mountin rifle & I still have it.Last summer
I stripped the stock & refinnished it.I rust blued all the hardware as did the barrel. Then I set in my
gun case till this week.

I took this ole girl out to day & did some shooting.Man I forgot what a tack driver that Dougless
barrel was.

Nice job. Real good looking gun. I think you sanded the ramrod a little thin:mrgreen:

I hate wood ram rods.Even when I hunt I carry a metal one in a deer skin sling over my back.I had one brake when hunting
& that's will never happen again (wink).

Nice job. I bought one of these in a kit, 50 cal in the early '80's. It did shoot good but sat in the closet nearly all the time and I finally sold it about 10 years later. Wish I still had it now. Cost of new kits is about 3x what I paid for that one. Oh well.

I have been told by someone I trust that Douglas barrels are top of the line. You got a keeper there seeing how Douglas got out of making BP barrels. Interesting that CVA used them back then. Learn something new everyday.

Wow that rifle looks great. Nice job. I agree with you on the wood ramrods. Although my rifle still has its wood ram rod in the thimbles, just for looks. I too use an unbreakable one.
