I have a XDm 45 that i have been casting a lee 230gr round nose for and it works great. I am wanting to see if anyone has used the 200gr SWC from lee or the 230gr TC? I thought that there was a problem with the SWC in these guns catching the brass of the round as its ejecting. Anyone have this problem?
Thanks
Mike

I think the 230TC is probably fine, but I don't have an XD45 (I have the 9mm). However, I have a 1911 and the Lee SWC with the single lube groove will not feed worth a darn. It's meplat is narrower than a "true" H&G 68 clone. I now have a SWC mold from Accurate Molds, which I believe is a true clone, and it feeds perfectly in both government and officers. Haven't had a failure yet. This may or may not relate to your XD though.

<edit>The Lee swc TL has a much wider meplat and may work well for you, if you're successful with tumble lubing (I'm not)</edit>

I have a mold for the 230 TC, standard lube groove bullet. It originally had a bevel base, but I removed the bevel with a drill (any slight imperfections in the base are cleaned up in the sizing die). This bullet feeds well in my Ruger P90 and RIA 1911...

I have the lee 230 TC in both TL and standard lube groove. Both feed great through my 1911 and a buddy's Taurus millennium. I have not had success with the lee SWC designs in semi-autos.

I have the Lee 230gr TC. While I have not loaded but maybe 200 - 300 rounds, I have never had a misfeed in either my XD45 or my 1911.

i have all 3 molds the lee 230 rn, 200gr swc and the 230 tc . i dont have an xd45 i have a rock island armory 1911 when the gun was new it wouldnt feed the swc loads so i stuck with the rn bullet till after i had a couple hundred rounds through it . after that they ran fine and is actually more accurate than the rn bullet as for the tc im not sure if i have put any of those through it yet but ive shot them in other 45's without issue

Thanks everyone for the fast replies. I think I am going to pick up the TC lee mold.

The lee 230 TC works flawlessly for me in my 1911 and Glock 21.

I have an XDs and XDm in 45 ACP; I routinely load for both with the Lee 452-230-TC mold with great success. I load for a couple other friends and they simply love this bullet. It feeds in everything. I load this bullet over a charge of Titegroup.

PS- If you shoot alot, I'd spring for the 6-cavity! Well worth it.

OK thanks for the info HiVelocity.
I shoot USPSA every month so I do shoot alot. I will be picking up the 6 cavity for my next mold.

I have shot quite a few Lee RN 230 1r, and had to seat them a little low to get them to feed nicely in my XDm. Then I got the 200 SWC (H&G 68 clone) and found the sweet spot to get it to feed, and that is the one I shoot the most. I also got the 200 RN 2r in the tumble lube model and like it too, again you have to find the sweet spot where each particular boolit nose shape fits(feeds) and did not have to seat it as deeply as the RN1r. I just received the 200gr SWC. TL and am waiting to cast some of them. The point I am trying to make is with lead boolits, they all have a different 'sweet spot' COAL that will feed in each gun. The COAL in the manuals is for me a guide as to where to start. The lighter loads with less pressures allow a slight fudge factor to make this all happen. I just want you to know that this is just one man's opinion, but for me, IT WORKS.

Thats a great point trixter. Just need to find the sweet spot and I will be good to go.

I shoot the Lee 200 swc TL boolit in 45 acp in my XDs and 1911 over Bullseye. I load them unsized and tumble lubed. They are cast of range scrap lead. The XDs has about 1500 of these cast through it since July and about 200 or so 230 hardball factory rounds. The XDs loves the 200 swc.

Never shot an XD but I have put several hundred of the Lee 200g TL SWC thru a couple of 1911s in 45 ACP. the Lee 200g SWC is pretty rounded and feeds well in the 1911 and th Marlin 1894 that I have used in 45 Colt.

I never could get the swc to function properly in my XD45. The head of the round being extracted would always catch on the mouth of the next round in the magazine. Maybe I had them seated to deeply.

I had an XD 45, just got rid of it over the summer. I was using, well trying to use the Lee 200 gr SWC mold I had, and initially I have accuracy and leading problems, way more than in my 1911. I switched lubes back to my grandfather's old recipe and the issue went away. I never had an issue feeding or jamming.

I have all 3 molds that were mentioned. The 230 1r shoots great in my XD 45 and XDS. Have not tried the 200 swc in the XDS yet, but it has gobbled up everything else I've thrown at it.

The full size XD will eat anything that will chamber. Ditto on finding the "sweet spot." I'll bet with a little tweaking any of them will shoot in yours as well. Good luck.

Thanks everyone! I think I am going to buy both and try them.

I shoot the 200gr TL SWC in a variety of guns and have had very good luck with it. I just bought the 230 TL TC but have not gotten around to shooting them yet.
