I have a complete set of older RCBS 45ACP dies. They look like they are chrome although run cases through like carbide. Does anyone know if these older RCBS dies are chromed carbide dies or what they consist of working like carbide.

Thanks,
Tom

I am not sure but I think the older RCBS die sets came with chromed steel. The carbide sizer was sold seperately and had an insert. At least that's what I had in .38 spl. When I needed a decapping pin, etc. RCBS sent me what I needed as the carbide die did not come with a decapper at the time I bought it (sometime in the '70s)

My 45ACP sizer is an RCBS that is dated 72 on the die. It is stamped as being carbide on the top of the die.

i use 1983 45acp expander die (solid, not powder thru) on my LLM in sta. 2. Its great, it steps instead of bells. Then boolit drop works with step better. Sand size die with 6000 inside while watching TV. Seater is good , order (incredible) dillon final crimp die. I drop powder with out expanding at that station, milled it off. I size @.451. Lee #90352 boolit mold.
