I know there is a tool for every job, but why would someone do this??? It makes no sense to me, granted most of my shooting has in a sense been mil based. Yet I just don't see the need for a rail system on a lever gun.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ and admitting to having never been bitten by the tacticool bug.
Think of it as a manually operated AR.
High capacity and if you shoot one a lot they can be very fast and very accurate.

To please the tree huggers I reckon. That does at least look better than the tacticool mossburg.

This one and the Mossberg would make a lovely couple.

Would this firearm be legal under a assault weapons ban? If so you may be looking at the future. I do know that a lot of guns really used everyday by people that depend on them often look like cr*p right down to the rustoleum paint. I think the ballistics of a 30-30 and 7.62 x 39 are similar. I guess for a gun used in harsh conditions I could ignore the looks. Besides if I had a Guide version of a 45-70 marlin and painted it black I'd just about be there.

I think that holding that stock while firing heavy 45/70 reloads would chew your hands to shreds(forend).

I'm not against synthetic stocks but accessory rails look hideous on any gun, especially pistols.

They do it to YOUR! rifle at the meager cost of only $2K! and the sample photos show a preCBS 1894 at that!:veryconfu

That thing is about as unpleasent for me to look at as the Bling Bling Urban AR's !

Yeah thats right I'm not a fan of all the tacticrap bull***** .

And the ZOmbie ***** is even worse .

Now with that beinf said I wouldn't mind a nice Stag Arms Model 7 in 6.8 SPC . Just might be a nice antitacticool deerkiller AR .

it really needs a pistol grip on the fore-end.

$2K? Nice work and all that but quite honestly I'd pay more for that wood display block. I think one advantage of a nice levergun is that it supplies an adequate amount of firepower without looking tacticool.

Have any of you all seen the Doug Turnbull AR with the nice walnut stocks and case colored receiver? Sort of the reverse of this thing. There was an add in a magazine last month showing it. I think it was "Rifle Firepower" mag. I liked that better than this thing.

Sounds like fun, Dave, but when I drag out my "ugly gun" I want it to be mean and menacing, not warm and friendly.
I'm afraid to look....it's purty, isn't it?

The sights don't look that bad and while the top rail is a tad long it isn't that bad. Now the rail system on the forearm are a bit to much. And I will agree this does look much better than the one mossberg put out.

There's no accounting for taste. I'm sure a hog hunter somewhere is looking for this. Not me though. I still like the stories with someone showing up with a Marlin to a tactical shoot & winning!

Why? Because mall ninjas buy lots of firearms.
That one needs to come with black gloves, a tactical sling, and a plate carrier.

With the exception of the knurly for arm, I have no problem with it. However, I’m sure it will get the anti’s panties all in a wad.

To show the anti gun crowd ANY gun can be MADE to look evil? I agree that forend is gonna be a little rough on the hand. What no heat shield........ I wonder what it weighs..............

I am waiting for a Mares Leg version with a scout scope setup and large loop lever.

Now THAT would be one ugly gun.

And a fore arm pistol grip. Maybe a flashlight mount? Bayonet lug? Heck, why not a lunch box?

A bunch of states now allow night hunting. Forearm allows mounting a flashlight, IR illuminature, night vision/thermal optics. Even for home defense a good light allows you to ID the target before shooting. Barrel needs threading for a suppressor to be complete 8-).

The rifle looks really good.....they just need to get rid of the railed forearm!

I walked into Academy Sports the other day, and they had a double barrel side by side with a rail mounted under the barrels........

I just shook my head... Guy behind the counter just chuckled...

Great for mounting a light for coon hunting or home defense...maybe some kind of IR scope too?

Rail or Duct Tape...

one of my friends picked one up, it was cheap enough and very accurate to boot! He likes it!

plus 30-30 is one of the cheaper rounds to relaod and cast for.

His barrel is tight, he needs a .300 nose for it to work!

plus it has standard grooves, no micro. :)

I'm thinking it would be a great racoon hunting gun, just mount your flashlight right to it.

I agree that black lever isn'attractive but the idea of an easy flashlight mount on a lever appeals to me greatly. In college I used duct tape and a mag light with a scarlet lens, and it worked pretty well, but it was far from a ideal set up. Are there newer mounts for levers for the current high tech lights other than the full rail?

I like the look except for the full rail fore end. I can see where a standard forend with a short rail screwed in the side at the front for a light would make for a good home defense/ night time predator gun. The top rail would be good for a small red dot like an aimpoint or SPARC.
As for a mare's leg with a scope or red dot I give you Zoe from the sci fi series Firefly.

That appears to be an 1894 Marlin, probably .44 or .357 or .45 Colt. :???:

I wonder if it would look any better with Coyote colored covers on all that rail estate? ;)
