i have a 45cal 6 cav lee mold that is a little rugh on top. can it be miled a 1000 or so? is there any one on here that does that? thanks chatles

I wouldn't worry about the roughness unless it causes a problem with the fit of the sprue plate.Or maybe if lead was seeping out around the base of the bullet when casting.Milling the mold could be risky and cause more problems than the roughness. If the mold functions well and drops good bullets I wouldn't touch it.

I agree, if the bases are good, leave well enough alone. The roughness aids air venting and lets the sprue plate slide easy. I always leave mill marks on top of the mold.
