I am going to try sabots, I am casting for the 40s&w, so I have some to play with, I have have two lee minie molds, one in 454 290, lube and paper patched, and a 449 290 mold paper patched. also have a lee real in 45. I have some options.

i think idaho ron has a gun just like that. he has great success with paper patch. it should be a good deer gun and be very accurate. i put a douglas .45 barrel on my renagade and it probably is my best shooter.

corey012778 nice work. Sounds like you had a plan and worked it until you had what you wanted. Those are shooters and I expect you will have a load of fun with it. It did come together nicely.

I did have a plan, but one part did not come out as planned, I was going to be a l&r lock on it it. but oped for a lock found on fleebay. found out the seller bought a lock for a project he was working on and dropped. may send him a few pics of mine.

i have bought a lot of parts for renagades and tc hawkens off of ebay and i just put them in a box for future projects. i can polish their triggers and even use their locks and they never fail me. tangs and butt plates are other things i look for good prices on. ebay has them weekly for sale.

I did a complete inspection of the lock when it came it, looked brand new. learned my lesson from the cva build I did a few years ago. bought a lock, it was trashed, parts keep breaking. broke down and put a l&r on it., have not got it out yet. I have some fine tuning to do on it.

I did a simular project, but used a GM 1/18 45 barrel. It will shoot. I PP the lyman 439-186. It is slightly undersize but with 80 grns of ffg Goex under a felt wad is well within minuite of deer at 200.

Corey, The RCBS 11mm rifle bullet shoots great out of those barrels. Ron

I have another .446 mould and I didn't have any luck with it yet. I tried the Minie and they shot very well but I sized them down to .446 and they weighed 315 gr I think. Once I shot the RCBS 11mm bullets the thought of any other bullet left my mind. Ron

Thanks, My Hot Rod Hawken is my favorite rifle right now since my 50 has a broken stock. My son had an accident when we were deer hunting and I am redoing a stock. Anyway, shooting this Hawken is like shooting the Renegade. I just know where the bullets will hit. I dug out an old Renegade that I hadn't shot in a number of years to kill my elk this year.
I have said for a long time that if TC would have made a Hot Rod Hawken and Renegade there never would have been inlines. Ron

Corey, is that GMB new production? I wanted a stainless barrel, and called a few places, but haven't found anyone making them in stainless yet. I was trying to find a staight stainless oct 45 barrel with a 1:66 twist, or something similiar for RB.

Thanks,
Ken
