Ok. I fiqure this has probably been covered before, but since I am one of the new guys, everyone will show a little patience. I am looking for a mold and a load for 41 mag, bullet wt between 160 & 180, somewhere between 750 & 1000fps.

Personally, I prefer the Lyman 410459 (discontinued) or equivalent (Keith style) 210gr plain base SWC over 6.7 grains of SR-7625 (gray can) with a standard large pistol primer for 900 fps from a 4" or 950 fps from a 6" revolver. It's accurate, controlable and there's damned little you can't do with it. Consider it the equivalent of the old Remington "Police Load", except that with the proper alloy and lube it won't lead up the barrel like the old Remingtons do.

Regards,

Stew

There aren't many molds available producing that light a bullet. The group buy wadcutter mold is about it AFAIK. I think your best bet for all around use is the Lyman 410459 or the 210 RCBS, as Stew mentioned. WW-231 and Unique are good powders, as are SR-4756 and Blue Dot. For the heaviest loads, I have always liked H-110.

I believe this one has been discontinued by Lee, but if you can find one I've had good results with it as a light 41 mag load. It's the TL410-175-SWC. I found mine on my dealers shelf gathering dust, you might try E-bay. It's a tumble lube design so it can be shot as cast without sizing. I load it with 7gr of Red-Dot.

Lee also makes a 195 grain. Found mine on E-Bay

I believe that Saeco has 170 or 180 grain molds. Check at Midwayusa.com

I like 5.5 grains of red dot behind the lyman 41032 as my plinking load. It's a lot stouter than you'd think. It replicates .45 acp ball ammo, but is a real ***** cat in a blackhawk.

Delt Corn Bread I got lucky last year and got a H&G 8-cavity 41cal 175gr wadcutter mould on E-Bay. Have shot several thousand so far. If you don't have any luck getting a lite bullet or want to try some let me know, a sample can be arranged.
