I have been searching this forum for a cast boolet for my 308(s). What I found was several recommendations for a 30-06. I also noticed a post mentioning that a 200 gr was not favorable in a 308 out to 400 to 500 yards, due to accuracy or drop issues. I have been seriously looking at the Lyman #311644 for quite some time. I do have a Mil Dot Scope, so Boolet drop may not be a problem. This is one Lyman recommends for the 308, weight is 190 gr.

Has any one had any experience with this Boolet? Does anyone have any loading data, velocity and accuracy data recommendations for this Boolet. Lyman indicates 1 MOA at 100 yards? I was hoping for something a little bit better.

accuracy is up to you, not what they say.
your mil dot scope is for jaxketed rounds at 2700 fps not cast at 1900 fps.
your drop from 100-200 will be @ 5 moa,and @ another 5 to 300 yds [those are scope settings] thats @ 10" and 15" in the real world.

i'm not familiar with that boolit or if it's even still made.
if it snuggles up like i think it will, you might/should be able to get more velocity from it than a standard paralell sided boolit or long bore rider.

i'd start with the go to load of 30 grs of I-4895 and bump it if it shows promise. then i'd start with the case fitting issues and some slower powders looking for around 2200 fps.
after that then some alloy swaps, and some other load tweaks.

311644 shoots well out of my 308's, 06,7x62x54R, and 7.5x55Swiss appropriately sized and on given days. However, so do311291, 31141, and 311284 and some of the Lees. If you get MOA you are doing fine and probably better by far than most. Manuals are reference guides and that only in reference to potential accuracy. Testing for manual data is done under controled condition, and not on the average shooters range. Go slow, work up, and develop your loads from experiance not from a namual.

I shoot a lot of 31299s out of several bolt and gas guns in .308W/7.62. Works very well in all of them. I also use 4895 mostly with that bullet but I us a dacron filler (1/2 gr). I'd suggest starting at 28 gr and work up letting the rifle tell you where the best accuracy will be. With 10" twist barrels generally that is in the 1800 - 1950 fps range. In 12" twist .308Ws I can easily bump that upwards to 2100 - 2200 fps. The 311299 has a very good BC for a cast bullet and will hold well to 500 - 600 yards depending on the velocity. Consistent accuracy of 1 moa is very, very good for cast bullet shooting (that's not meaning for a single 3 shot group or a single 5 shot group but at least for a 10 shot group and preferably three 10 shot groups).
