Well, I got in on the original order for the NOE 7mm 150 Hunter mold and haven't cast a boolit with it yet. With the weather warming up I'm going to start casting again and I'm looking for recommendations for a couple loads for this boolit in the 7mm-08. I'mm looking for a good load in the 1,800 fps range and one at the top end that will let me put several down range with minimal leading. I have Bullshop's SG lube and thinned Lee liquid alox as lubes to work with.

The rifle is a Rem Model 7 w/ 18" tube that hasn't had 100 rounds through it. It's squeaky clean with no trace of copper. All suggestions will be appreciated. GF

My son shoots a 7-08 HR single shot. With the 150 hunter GB, I think.... and that is a long stretch... we were using 16 grains 2400 over a rifle primer. My boy head shot a running hog at night with that rifle with his mother doing the spotlight. Not just a real powerful load, but for a 10 year old, all he could handle without having a flinch. And kills hogs fine. Air cooled 50/50 ww/pure air cooled. Was printing just over an inch at 100 yards. Definately huntable.

Carlton Shy Jr's 1989 book "Cast Bullets and Silhouettes" has these loads for 145gn cast boolits: WW748 - 30.0 gns, SR4759 - 21.5 gns, IMR4198 - 24.5 gns.

All supposedly give around 2000 fps out of a 15" barreled handgun.

It was also noted that high Brinnell no's and good lube is needed.

Hope this gives you something to start with.

I am shooting the NOE 150 gr hunter air cooled WW with ( this load is safe in my gun ) 28.5 gr WC 735 surplus (5% faster than H335 ) and it is steel ram accurate out to 200 M inside that it goes where you point it and lands with authority. This is out of a 15" wichita silouette pistol.

Norbrat:

I have two of those powders in stock and will give them a try as they are right in the range I'm looking for. I've gotten my Pact Chony rebuilt after a friend shot it up so I can see just how they do and what accuracy they yield. Thanks, GF

You might try minimum loads of IMR-4064 or 4895 and work up. My experimenting has been with the Lyman 287461 at 160 grains. It works well.

Good hunting and shooting,
