Sorry if this is a re-hash, I tired the search under 'most accurate', 'favorite', and '45-70' at the end but I kept getting a mixed bag of 800+ hits on the search. So, I say...
I'm looking for yall's input on the most accurate load with a cast boolit in the 350-400 gr range. I have the NOE 460-350 and I'd like to start load work up in a couple months. By that time I should also have the NOE 4 cav 379-235. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Here is one shot by BABore some years ago. It's quite possible to do when you know how.

How about for the 405gr and 425gr molds also. I'm in the same boat, tried all sorts of variations of wording for loads with no luck

What gun are you going to shoot them out of and what distance?

My most accurate 45/70 load consists of the Ranch dog 350 gr. cast boolit sized .460 with white Label BAC lube in front of 43 grs. of IMR-4891 for about 1800 fps in my Marlin 1895 LTD-V. I seat the boolits where they just touch the barrel lands and get consistant 3/4-1 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards.

I also have the NOE 350 gr. mold and accuracy "IN MY RIFLE" is not quite as good as the ranch dog boolit, but very close, 1-1/2 in groups. In your rifle the NOE boolit may prove to be very accurate. You just have to try it with different powders and seating distance. 44 gr. of IMR_4198 was also accurate, but going above that and the groups starting opening up and I settled on the 43 gr. load as my standard hunting load. That 43 gr. of IMR-4198 was also very accurate with the Hornady 350 jacket FP bullet, which is a .460 sized bullet.

I get very good results from 24 gr 2400 and a 420 plain base in my Marlin. Regularly goes under 1.5 inches at 100 from a bench. I can't ask for more than that.
I get similar results from 22.5 gr of 2400 if I use a bit of Dacron as a filler.

i basically use the same as brad.
from 22grs on up.
lately i have been at 24.8 grs sometimes with and sometimes without dacron.
the dacron is for hunting and without is for the range.

I have several loads that have proved to be very good to excellent. My old hunting load used in both a Marlin 1895 and a Ruger No 1 rifle was very accurate and usually resulted in a clover leaf 3 shot group was a Lyman 457124 385 gr RN over 42 gr of IMR 3031.

A good all around target load that provides black powder ballistics is 27 gr of AA 5744 and any 325 to 425 gr bullet. This load usually will shoot 5 shots into under 1.5 inches in several single shot rifles I own.

I also get excellent results with any 400 gr bullet and 24 gr of 2400.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone want to share a favorite load with a 325g cast (lee) projectile and varget? I've got a 24" Encore barrel that I haven't shot yet, and I'm putting new sights on it as well, so I'd like to start off with something reasonably consistent so I can at least sight the thing in.

Here's mine. 1" @ 100 yds. measured outside to outside from a 1895 Marlin guide gun.
NOE 460350 13.4 bhn, sized .460, speed green.{ air cooled WW + pinch of tin }
26 gr. SR4759, starline brass, seated just touching lands. { 1500 to 1600--I think--don't have a crony }
Mild recoil and fun to shoot and will knock a deer DRT.
