I found this single cavity RB mold in a box of items I purchased at a public sale, its an IDEAL MOLD. It has several extra threaded holes in it that I believe are not on standard molds? It measures approx. .445 and the thing I find unusual is that the RB part is an insert. I assume some one drilled a hole straight though the mold then installed the insert? Does anyone know if this was common? The only numbers on the mold are 184, possibly some one purchased a blank and made this?

That IS an interesting one. I've seen photos of other moulds with bronze insert cavities (Harry Pope made a few), but none made this way. The "184" on both blocks is a "match number" to keep the two halves together. I note the sprueplate pivot screw is broken off, and its set screw in the side of the LH block is buggered. It looks (your third photo) sorta like a mould number may have been scrubbed off, just above the handle slot on the LH block, so this may be an aftermarket "conversion" of a mould for a fairly small bullet. I don't know what the extra holes are for - maybe to lock the inserts in place? I'll offer you, say $25 plus shipping - if you are willing to part with it - for my "odd ball moulds" collection, so PM me if you want to follow up.
