I'm about to load up a new batch of 40's with a 175 gr lead boolit. Since I'm loading more than I normaly do (practice ammo) i will not be using my original recipes that are still "experimental".

What is a good load for practice ammo with a 175 gr lead boolit?

I'm using 5.7 gr unique with the lee 175 gr mold produced boolits. This is in glock 35,22, and 27.

I use 4.0 Red Dot. About 850 fps, accurate and comfortable to shoot.

+1 on the Red Dot. 4.0 to 4.4gr will make your powder stretch a loooong way, and it is by no means a weak load. It's my normal load. I only step to HS-6 or 2400 when I want to create the screamers with no practical purpose beyond turning something inside out from the muzzle blast. You'll fall in love with Red Dot if you taste the Red koolade. ;)

5.4gr of W231 with 165gr plated bullets is my standard .40 S&W load. Used in my Glock 35 and my Kel-Tec Sub 2000 carbine.
