Anybody have any experience with this combination, particularly in a rifle? I'm thinking of 11 grains behind a 160 gr Keith with GC. Should be safe enough? I'd like to build into a decent velocity - say 1800 fps with the 160 grain boolit, or maybe more - 2000 fps should be achievable through a 22" barrel, right? Feel free to jump in any time here.....

I'm still groping my way along on this - but my understanding is that "softer" lead, say 15 to 16 BHN, can (and maybe should) exceed groove diameter by .002", whereas "harder" lead (maybe BHN 20-22?) should be held to .001 oversize at most. Am I smoking rope or OK or simply not asking the right questions? Should I load a dozen rounds sized to .357, .358 and .359 to get a taste for it? My only way of judging pressure is a visual exam of the case and primer, but I'm hoping to see leading within that dozen rounds, if it's occurring enough to be really bad.

The problem may be that I'm trying to juggle too many "new things" at once. (To me) a new cartridge, rifle, powder and bullet. At least I'm familiar with CCI primers. [smilie=1: Going to hold off loading these 'till tomorrow, since I can't shoot 'till Monday anyway.

Start at 13 grains of WC820 with a 160-165 in your Maximum case, which is a great average-maximum load in the Magnum case. That load is low enough for the fastest WC820 I have heard about here. ... felix
