I picked up a nice old sporter Mauser with double set triggers knowing on of the triggers did not work. Pulling the trigger group out I found a scew missing, or at least it appears to be missing.

I have no idea what size or length I need to replace it with. Anyone have any info on these triggers?

The small screw between the two is sear engagement when set. Maybe
the problem is just too little sear engagement when set. See if backing off
that screw will make it set and hold. As to the rear hole, I have no idea
what it might do.

Which trigger is the "set" trigger?

Rear trigger sets the action, front trigger fires the rifle.

Uncle Grinch, I sure wish your problem there was mine! That is a nice piece of equipment. I don't like double triggers for hunting (too much noise when setting) but they are neat for target. Some can be adjusted that the front trigger is acceptable to use with out setting with rear.

That looks like the pivot for the rear trigger blade that flies up when the front trigger is touched. Could it be just a simple pin? The front trigger should be able to function without it, it'll just give you a long creepy pull.

Looks to me to be the rear trigger pivot screw like gnoahhh said. I think I have a trigger group like that in the shop, will look and see.

I found some links online that show it to be a screw, but no other description or part number.

That's because there were a bunch of companies that made them. A lot too were artisan-made right there in the shop. I would be very surprised if one pin/screw from one outfit would work in the trigger from somebody else. If no one has such a beast, it'll have to be custom made; not a big deal, but it is undoubtedly a tiny metric thread size.

Tore mine to measure.
The screw is 8mm long and 2.4mm thread (standard metric).
It's function is to hold the set trigger in place.

Very good info. At least it's a start. I know where I can pick up some M2.5-0.45 screws to try. The length may be shorter than 8mm as you included the head in the length.

Thanks very much!!
