Two of my favroites are the 35 Rem and 6.5 Jap.
The 35 is so versatile, fairly large caliber, eats jacketed and cast bullets equally well.
Can load it down to 38spl or up to moose medicine.

The 6.5 Jap is a sleeper in the Arisaka.
Incredibly strong action so it can be loaded up like a 260 Rem, and with the right loads in a good barrel will shoot MOA all day with anything from 120gr to 160gr.

Just really fond of those two, they have proven their worth over and over.

Agreed on the 35 Rem, had one in a Contender for years, now I'm casting for it in a 336. Pretty awesome either way. Achored a tough old hog with one shot and put pork in the freezer with another this year.
Can't speak to the 6.5 but it has a few loyal fans around here, sounds like a good complement to the 35.

If I really have to outshoot the kids, I take the 35.
