After interminable weeks of temps never climbing out of the 20s, we finally had a break with a warming trend. Yesterday was the first day after a the snow cleared off the desert floor and I took the dogs out for a run and a morning of brassratting; the results are below. Its' still too early for boolit-picking -- the berms are frozen clay mud, that thaws to gooey clay mud -- and you gotta get out of the desert before noon and the ground really gets soft.
Got what amounts to a gallon and a half bucket overflowing with brass, including some less common stuff: .50AE, 6.8SPC, a pile of 44 Mag and the usual ACP, 9, 40, .223 and 30-30. In the foreground is the live-ammo take (2x .223, 3x 9mm, 2x .40S&W, 2x .357 & 74x .22LR), a penny and a round of .50 cal belt. A pretty decent couple of hours spent out of doors.
Time to sort and tumble.

Looks like a job for the Stainless Steel pins.

With all the shortages happening it amazes me that more people don't keep their brass and reload it.

Oh well,,, more for us!

Nice! Something about brass on the ground that is like money in the pocket!

We went the other day, found 4 lbs of scrap stuff, 200 clean 9mm, 50 .45acp, 100 .40 S&W, 100 .223 R-P brass and two boxes of nickle 10mm brass.
Sold the .223 and 10mm brass for $15 bucks the same day to our LGS, he was thrilled to get anything .223 related and not milsurp brass.
I sure do love brass hunting, and look forward to more and more folks leaving brass behind lately, i can't believe nobody picks it up though!

Good haul! You'll be able to use a lot of it and trade the rest.

Seems to me that many of the people shooting right now just got their first AR15 or Wonder9 before the big ban and are going shooting for the first time in years if ever. These newcomers may not even know that it's possible to reload.

I'm afraid the people at my club have become remarkably selfish. They're picking up their brass.

I used to be able to pick up a couple hundred cases whenever I went out; now I find 5.

I have a public range on my way home from work. I used to be able to pick up 5-10 gallons a week. Now by the time I get off, multiple people have already stopped and swept it clean. Everything yellow gone, steel cases swept off to the side.

I've noticed that the people at the range I use have become increasingly selfish and thoughtless. They're picking up their brass.

;-)

This undoubtedly has something to do with the lack of reloading equipment and supplies.

I do love scrounging for brass at my range. I discovered that some people hide their spent brass in the garbage can...luckily the only things in there are paper targets, brass, and ammo boxes. It's nice of them to collect the brass in one place for me to get it.
