Dear Sirs and Ma'ams,
What are viable (i.e safe) choices of powders and charges for 2oz (or heavier!) 12ga 3-inch loads(*)? I am inspired by the posts by Mr. VdoMemorie-Blazing Sabot loads and his pictures of his 'mighty' 2-oz loads of buck'n'ball. So I got to looking around the net and the powder websites and load data.com and found some for ~27gr Blue dot; but got to wondering what other things folks have used.

And what I mean by range is: anything down to low 900-ish fps velocities all the way up to psi maximums (non-magnum).

So while not specifically asking for Mr. VdoMemories' load data, that, and all others as described would be interesting to me.

Many thanks in advance for your sharing expertise!

(*) 2.75" data will work as well, of course; but I sure couldn't find any 2+ ounce 2.75" 12ga data!

Sir!
You are the Man! Have to like a vendor who shares his loading data (Like James at Dixie Slugs). Most excellent customer service. Plan to actually buy something just on principle.
thank YOU!

p.s. are you saying that 2oz loads are OK w 1&7/8 oz data, or just to give me an idea? Or is there a low-end range that 2oz would be safe based on the above 1.875oz loads?

Ballistic Products had a 1 7/8 oz load for the 2 3/4" Activ Hull.. at the time, it was one of the few hulls that had the internal capacity that could do it.. I may have made up an 18 pellet 00 load with the 3" Activ hull but I no longer have the data that I utilized..

Greetings, thanks for your kind remarks.
You can safely use a 2 1/8 oz loading data for 2 oz load,
2 oz loading data for 1 7/8 load, this way you gain speed!
1 7/8 loading data for 1 5/8 load, this way you gain speed!

Its important not to change any components, specially the primers for your own safety!

Protect your hearing, be sure to double protect yourself as I lost my hearing while testing just because I thought an 5X expensive
Ear muff that looks very pretty will not only look good but protect me.

Time to have fun!

Dear Mr. VdoMemorie,
Thank you, Sir. And I meant what I said: will there be any way to purchase your products for those of us who do not "do" Facebook?

Also, regarding the list of 12ga 3.5" loads:

1. For the 2&1/4 oz loads; if my desire is to use that data for 2oz loads, would it be safe to remove (not substitute, just remove some of the listed) wadding as well as reduce by 1/4 oz the shot, in order to get the load to fit in a 3" shell?
and,
2. regarding similarly the 2oz loads, would it be safe to maintain the 2oz of shot, but remove some of the listed wadding in order to get it to fit in the 3" shell?

If it can be done, not sure as I have not yet tried.
But, for example, remove the .135"20ga card? I am looking for 2oz 3" loads, while trying to avoid creating a grenade.

Thanks again, Sir!

Hey, I will bite.
What is the use of loads of that payload?
I have never heard of or used these, but if they have a place, I would like to know. It may be information that comes in useful later.

Turkey hunters like the heavy payload and dense pattern... otherwise I dunno.. for the heck of it?

Mostly for the heck of it, but also to pack a subsonic whallop on close range coyotes at night. Stuff like that.
I tried some 1&7/8 oz loads w HS-6 yesterday and they werent bad. but the same load w longshot kicked q bit more.
Also didnt pattern too well out at 50 yds.
C-
p.s. I also found that the Ballistic products TPS (for tungsten loads) didnt allow a full 2 oz shot in them and still leave room for the overshot disk and a roll crimp. I may try the Turkey ranger wads next, as the no4 buckshot might stack better.

Should have mentioned, that I used the TPS wads with lead No4 buckshot. They sure do have enough room for 2oz of tungsten, which is more dense. Also, if i had used smaller shot, 2 oz might have fit. But i am looking for somewhere btw T-shot annd no4 buckshot (.20-.22 diameter pellets).

The BPGS/BP12 combo was what was used for the 1 7/8 oz Activ load.. The wads are thinner and thus increase capacity..

I was also thinking that a shorter crimp, using an unslitted (maybe slightly slitted) Ranger wad and letting some pellets come over the shot cup. Might get a full 2 oz that way. The 'loose' pellets would spread out right away and those in the cup woudl stay together for patterns longer range.
Of course, I am shooting coyote at close ranges anyway (under 50 yds, mostly abt 25yds), so maybe I am just still playing around w ideas.
