I had a Mihec 45 acp hp mold a while back. I know how they work as to get the boolit out of the mold.

How does the NOE mold work? I was thinking of getting one of these. Is one better than the other?

they are both good mold makers and their molds are top notch
never had issues with either and I own quite a few of both

They are both good. I have both also. But not one of NOE's HP's. That is what I wanted to know. With Mihec's, The pins go threw the sides of the mold and you tap the pins and the boolits fall out. So how does the NOE molds work. I see the pins are attached from the bottom. But that is all I see. How do you get them out of the cavities?

I have both Mihec cramer style and NOE RG style. They are both very good moulds although they work differently.

Mihec cramer style relys on the pins being pushed out to remove the boolit from the mould.
You can see this in this picture. if the pins are not slid out sideways the boolit will never leave the cavity. Generally the pins are too tight to allow gravity to do the work so they must be helped. Not an issue, just the way it is.

The NOE RG style does not rely on the user moving the pins instead it rely's on gravity and a gentle shake or tap.
Usually how you hold the mould to make the boolits fall out is important. When the boolits start to fall the pin slides along the holder bar to allow the boolit to fallout of the cavity and off the pin.

does anyone remember someone using the extra guide rods from a MH mould to secure them to both halves?

then when he opened the mould the pins stayed centered and were pulled out of the mould halves.

the mould only opened so far, but it appeared to be more than enough, as the caster never realized he had set them up differently until seeing pics of others.

Blammer, thanks! that was exacly what I wanted to see. I tried to search for this but could not find anything. I think this would help a lot of people on how each works.

What about a sticky???

Nanuk: It only works with a double cavity cramer style mould. I have one of Mihec's clones of the H&G #38 (Ness Safety) boolit, and I have one the HP pins connected to both blocks, so when opening the mould it pulls the pins out, so by just turning the mould upside down, then opening it, the boolits fall right out. It works great! Unfortunately it won't work on the 4 cavity moulds, the blocks are too long.

I vote for Hollowpointmoldservice "inset bar".His are hand fit individually to your mold and slide in and out with no "break in" from the outset.

Cant be beat until somebody copies it and claims it as their own.

After seeing Erik's HP design, it does look very effective. Glad to hear it works as good as it looks. Gonna have to get one of my molds done one of these days. I actually have much better success with Miha's HP molds in the 2 cav version. For whatever reason, they just seem much easier to work with, at least for me.'
Now then, I have 2 of NOE's RG HP molds, just haven't used them yet. I think the MP HP's are easier for me because the 2 cav's hold the heat easier. AND as we know, holding the heat is EVERYTHING using a HP mold. Mike

Good pics, Blammer! I have a few molds stashed away I seriously need to get to Erik. Now finding them is another matter...
