I am thinking about getting the 45-300S from Accurate Molds for use in sabots, pure lead, what diameter should I stay with .450 .451? I think I might go .452 then I can size it down.

Might even consider .453 in case your bore's is a little loose. You can always size it down.

Get the .450 if loose you can knurl them up easier than sizing down. With soft lead I use a file and press hard and roll them under the file. With a coarse file and soft lead I can get 450 up to 456 real easy. The knurling makes the boolit "bigger" and it grips the sabot to insure spin in aggressive fast twist rifling. I even use it on j-word boolits and even solid coppers. Even use it to shoot sabotless to get undeersized boolits to fit and load. Started it years ago with my White, rather than have a "squib" crapping up the barrel just knurled up the boolits and they would fit tight and not move and load OK too. Works good. $.02 worth. 10 ga

How much can you change diameter by changing alloy or does pure lead pour bigger than alloy?

OK just a little research and I found more alloy larger boolits I need to measure my boolits I am shooting so I get what I want.

Pure lead pours the smallest but that's not an issue when ordering a custom mould. Tell the maker what you're going to use and the diameter you want and that's what you'll get. Don't think you need pure lead with this thing anyway. It's the meplat that's going to do the damage. A 300-310 gr 45 caliber bullet with a .320 meplat going 1600 fps or so will take the wind out of a lot of animal's sails.

Pure lead shrinks.

One thing I found out accidentally, is that smoking or painting a mold with graphite restricts the mold... If you are sizing your bullets with a lubrisizer type, you can "squish the bullet up to .451 say, but you will also change the meplate... better to have less deformity unless you don't care... as i don't.. but many do and should.
